Brushing brown, haphazard curls and waves out of her face and back into a short ponytail, Cobb took a deep breath; steeling herself for the inevitable interview to come. She hated interviews. She always botched them somehow.. talking to fast.. smiling too much.. throwing in too much slang.. throwing up mid-sentence. Brushing hands over her scarred, horrific face, she grimaced. Not enough make-up in the world to cover this disaster. No sir.

Finishing that long walk up the drive, she sauntered to what she suspected was the main office and knocked sharply, briskly; taking a secondary glance at her clothing in the meantime. At least this time she'd remembered to match her socks; though they were invisible under the cuffs of her far-too-long jeans.. it was never easy to find jeans that fit when you were under five feet tall. Instead, she rolled them up and looked quite the picture of a rockabilly princess; baby-doll t-shirt polishing off the hourglass shape that she had, once, been proud of.

No sense in being proud now. Ever since the mugging and the beautiful glasgow grin had been carved into her face, Cobb had refrained from going out of her way to dress nice. She'd lost most of her sense of self in the process, too. It was a half-hope, perhaps a false one, that she might begin to feel a little more at home if she had a job. Something familiar. Something... Cobb-esque.

"..'allo in there?"

Eversince the tornado and her twins being born, Shea could never find the time to catch up with her paper work. Piles upon piles of papers and folders had begun to collect on her desk most were applications for boarding, some were breeding papers and a few in there were folders and papers she needed to complete for the two new foals born of the stables. The ranch was coming along nicely as the rebuild was almost done. The mare barn that had once been a complete pile of rubble was slowly building skyward; the walls and interrior was complete, they were now just finishing shingling the roof and some minor cosmetic things. The twins, on the other hand, were not going to let her rest. Kenny Jr was colicy now and he was a nonstop crier now a days, she hoped the colic would pass quickly. Nora on the other hand, was a joy and a rather quiet baby; atleast for now. Hoisting up the two infants within her arms, Shea exited the ranch house and headed for the office situated within the stallion barn, luckily enough. She was greatful it wasn't within the mare barn otherwise all of her work would have been 'gone with the wind' so to speak when the storm hit. The two fussed in her arms as she finally made it inside. She had purchased a second bassinette for the office so she could do her work and watch over the youngsters and she placed them gently within the white circle shaped crib, "Now please take a nap so mommy can get some work done." she whispered with a light smile before moving towards her desk and sitting down with a sigh. Just as she picked up a pen to start, she heard a knock at the door. Looking up slowly from the desk towards the closed door, Shea groaned some as she forced herself upwards out of the seat. Moving towards the door, she grabbed the knob and opened the stained glass and oak door. Surprised to see a woman she didn't know on the other side; her scars. Shea shook her thoughts quickly, "Hello, can I help you?"

Cobb hesitated. Instantly, liquid blues drifted over everything in the background of the office; bassinet included. Kids. Oh, that was fun. The older ones were frightened and the younger ones insatiably curious, but they generally took her at face value - har, har, no pun intended - and tended to be non-judgmental. By the looks of it.. these ones were a little too young to be doing either. Nonetheless; Cobb liked children. Snapping back to the current after the hesitation, the near invisible mental pause that her rampaging brain had forced her on, she extended a hand in gracious greeting. Cobb forced herself to smile, meeting Shea's gaze and nodding as polite company does.

"Crivens! Aye, dinnae mean ta disturb, ma'am. Awright then, I'm Cobb Charming, professional drover. Behin' the reins o'a pair o' draughts since I was a wee bairn." She kept her voice low, Scottish lilt hitting sing-song fashion as she described in brief her reason for calling. "Drove a hansom cabbie in Glasgow fer a numba o'years, a cromulent lass in compet'tive harness rings, an' taught a few doz'n draught ta take ta harness. If ye have need o'a driver, train'a or othawise, I'm lookin' fer work."

She laced her fingers behind her back, standing silently in wait, her gaze still locked on Shea.

Shea listened to the woman as she spoke, smiling softly as she let her continue. This woman was definately something different. She didn't believe she had ever heard an accent quite like that once before and it made her curious of her. Her smile only grew when she realized this woman was a good worker with drafts; it was just what she needed for the stables, "It's nice to meet you, Cobb. I'm Shea Bancroft, owner of this here stable." she introduced, shifting some as she spoke; arms crossing over her front lightly, something that she tended to do often at the rare times she stood still. Shea was a hard worker and always on the go, it was just how she was brought up, "Well, actually, we have a opening for a driving trainer and instructor if you'd be interested in that." she mentioned before turning, "Common in." she added as she headed back to her desk so they could discuss things further out of the fall chilled air. Just as she reached her desk, Kenny began to whine a bit and Shea moved over to the bassinette, "These two are nonstop, I swear." she smiled softly once more before rocking Kenny gently.

Cobb waited a heartbeat of a second before following the young woman in, hands shoved protectively into her pockets as she stamped her feet lightly on the doormat and tiptoed in to avoid disturbing the youngsters in their bassinet. Glancing sideways at the bundles, she felt a stab of homesickness; that odd sense of non-belonging that had always managed to make her heart falter and her throat swell up. Swallowing back a lump, she plastered that false but convincing smile on her features once more. Just a little while longer, Cobb-y girl, and then we can quit pretending to be happy.

"Plessa ta meet ya, ma'am!" She quipped in a low but cheery tone, hands still laced protectively in her pockets. "Ah'm mighty desperate fer some since of normalcy -- Ah ken start ta-day if ya need; elsewise be back morn's mornin'. Jus' tell me who ta meet or where ta start, an' who Ah'll be teachin'." She desperately needed this -- even if it didn't pay worth squat, at least it was something to do, some place to start. A swift kick in the butt to get her life back on track... it was limited, but effective.

Shea turned and sat down at the desk, craddling Kenny in one arm as he looked across the desk towards Cobb. She thought a moment on when the woman should begin, "Well, it's up to you." it was still early in the day, "Today I could give you a tour and introduce you to the drafts if you like and you can start tomorrow." she suggested, glancing down towards Kenny before looking back over to the other woma, "We have a few horses that need to be started on driving, including a very opinionated stud if you feel up to it." she smiled softly. Of course she was talking of her stallion, Shellshock. He was a great horse but stubborn and lazy as hell, "Do you have a place you're staying or are you looking for a place?" she asked.

Cobb brightened considerably at the mention of today's start and a quick meet and greet. "Brilliant! Ah'm always game for the opinionat'd. Lead and ah shall foll-a." She grinned slightly.. wasn't far from the truth, she had a thing for the hard-to-handle; though amazingly enough... rarely had she sat astride. No, her place was back behind the horses on the buckboard. Bright blue eyes gazed around the office in curiosity, drinking in the various pictures, diplomas and ribbons that no doubt adorned every successful ranch office's walls. She was impressed with the place; and inexplicably comfortable. She was rarely comfortable in strange situations.

"Ah dunnae have a place yet, but soon Ah'm sure. Unless... ye've got a gues' house ah coul' exchange pay fer?" She let her gaze drop to the infant, smiling slightly at him. Bringing one finger up, she wiggled it at him, making eye contact. Most kids loved being noticed.

Shea smiled at this rather upbeat woman; it was a nice change of pace from the depression of the rebuild, "Wonderful. Let's go meet the drafts." she stated as she stood. She noticed Cobb's gaze travel to the decore of photos and ribbons. The diplomas within the office were of her own person stash. She had a degree in equine medicines, a sort of instructor diploma and also in equine and animal massage which she didn't use as much as she should. Various others there strewn about the walls as well as past champion horses whos pictures were surrounded by what ever ribbons they won. These conitnued out in the isles of the barns also, "We do have housing for employees. Well, rather rooms within the ranch house. There's no charge for employees of the stables to have a room." she replied before glancing down towards Kenny as he wiggled once more, a wide smile appearing on his tiny lips as he looked up to Cobb; reaching out a small fingered hand to grab her finger. Shea smiled lightly at her son's antics before spotting him give a large yawn, "Oh good, he's getting sleepy." she mused.

"Aye, that'd be fabulous, ma'am. She nodded, shifting to rock back on her heels. She would be happy to be a live-on trainer -- it saved her the hassle of renting an apartment or condo as well. Motioning to the door in a "Shall we?" indication, she stepped to it and out, tucking her hands into her pockets as the chill hit her from the light breeze. She loved autumn.. it was such a beautiful season.

Scratching her neck, she glanced back toward the office; waiting for the young mother and her children to join her for their aforementioned tour. She was chomping at the bit to get started and couldn't wait to see what came next. Rocking from foot to foot, she gazed out over the grounds of White Reflection, small smile permanently framed onto her marred, horrific features. "Ah really apprec'ate this, ma'am."

Shae gave a nod to Cobb before turning and gently placing the now slumbering child in the basinette with his sister. As they exited the office, she gave a sharp whistle and within moments a large German Shepherd came bounding over, giving a growl towards the new, unfamiliar woman, "Easy, Fritz." she stated in a deep tone before pointing towards the office, "Stay." she commanded, having Fritz watch over the babies as they slept. She then turned back towards Cobb, "Alright, this way, we'll start with my body Shock." she added before leading the way towards the stallion barn, "We have an American Cream Draft on his way here soon and we should be having a pregnant mare Clydesdale and her colt arriving soon as well. So, the colt might be a project horse when he gets a bit older." she added with a smile, proud of her new purchases. Entering the stallion barn, a large THUD could be heard echoing off the walls, "Ah, that's Shock. He's a baby when it comes to being in his stall..." she commented as they came up on the black stud's stall, "Hey there big bog." she cooed, watching as Shock's massive head came to hang over the stall door with a rough snort. Ears flickered back and forth as he released a loud whinney in a sort of greeting towards them, stomping a hoof as he extended his neck out towards the unfamiliar woman, "Cobb, this is my boy Shellshock."

Cobb's head swiveled this way and that as they entered the facilities, glancing around curiously. Her step was aloof, light, but her body demeanor alert and in charge. She was pleasantly surprised to find the barns weren't jam-packed with horses - instead, it was modestly sized -- well, for the giants it housed, at least -- and roomy. She grinned as Shea introduced equine to woman.

"Oi there, big boy." She chirped as the stallion greeted them, extended a hand for him to sniff. "He's massive! Lovely. Cannae wait ta get started." She was mentally sizing the stallion up, keen, experienced eye running over every line and muscle. "Has he ever driven before...?" It would certainly be the chore if he had never seen a harness.. and honestly, her memory failed her from earlier. Her excitement was just overwhelming at the time.

Shea gave another pat to her stallion's neck, "Yep, he's a great horse when you know how to control him. He's a sweetheart, but he's still a stally." she glanced over to Cobb at her question, "He has been started, he's just very stubborn... But, if he knows you're incharge, he should work for you. He'll try to see what he can get away with, with you since you're a new person." the stallion snorted, ears flickering as he kicked forward and a large hoof bounced off the stall door with a loud 'bang', "I just recently picked up a clydesdale mare and her colt and an American Cream stud. We also have two new foals here with her mothers as well. The two foals are actually Shock's young but they're too young to be started just yet, so we have some breather time." she smiled softly. So many drafts were coming in, finally her stable was picking up.

"Oh, thas jus' lovely to hear, ma'am." She was very happy the ranch was picking up; it meant more work for her. Eyeing the stallion warily, she thrust a hand through to stroke the large neck, scratching at the bits of his head and ears that were in reach - until he was tired of it and pulled away, of course. Turning to glance around, she located his halter, taking note of his stall in relation to the other stalls -- a mental note-taking, as it was, that would guide her later on.

"Mind if I take someone out? Get ta groomin' and such?" She motioned to Shellshock, nodding slightly. "I doubt he'll be much of an issue.. I'm just.. itching to get started."

(Mind if I come in? I want Amy and Cobb to become friends and I think I have an idea. Amy has a yearling Friesian that she want's to start training but because of her legs she can't do it herself. Maybe she can have Cobb do it for her and thats how they become friends?)
